Privacy Policy

adhoc (“we”, “us”) is a private social app that lets you tell friends when you’re free for a spontaneous call. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run the app, we never sell your data, profiles are not publicly browsable or indexed, and your contact details are only shared with the one friend who claims your window to place a call.

What we collect

We collect only what you give us to make the app work:

What we do not collect

Who can see your profile

Profiles are not publicly indexed or available through a browsable directory. Basic profile information (username, display name, avatar color) may appear when someone searches a full or partial username — just enough to send you a friend request. Your bio, social handles, profile photo, availability, and activity are visible only to friends you’ve accepted. Your phone number is never part of your profile at all.

How your number is shared

Your phone number and optional call handles stay private until the moment they’re needed: when you’re free and a friend taps Call (or vice versa), that one friend sees the contact details needed to place the call. Friends never see your number just by being your friend.

Service providers

We use a small number of services to run adhoc: Twilio delivers the SMS verification codes, Expo delivers push notifications, and our servers and database are hosted on Replit. These providers process data only on our behalf.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete your account any time in Settings → Delete account, which permanently removes your profile (including your photo), friendships, availability, call history, push tokens, and sign-in sessions. Aggregate usage counters are kept but are no longer linked to you. SMS verification codes expire within minutes and are stored only as one-way hashes.

Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Sign-in uses one-time codes sent to your phone — there are no passwords to leak. Access tokens are stored securely on your device.

Children

adhoc is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update the date above and notify you in the app.
